A poor electricians backpack can tear under the load of your tools and leave you short of storage space.

Compare these bags for carrying a full load of tools.

The reviews below cover storage and durability.

Best Electricians Backpack

Klein Tools Backpack

Heavy-duty tool backpacks often cost a lot. This Klein model is our choice for electricians, with 39 pockets and a separate compartment to protect safety glasses. Its 1680d ballistic weave makes it sturdy.

We prefer this Klein model among heavy-duty tool backpacks. Dedicated compartments hold tools such as pliers and wrenches, with additional slots for pens, pencils and screwdrivers.

This backpack costs a little more than budget models but less than high-end competitors, with comparable build quality. Padded shoulder straps provide comfort over long days, while an integrated handle lets you carry it by hand. A water-resistant molded base protects items when you set the bag down.

You get good storage capacity in a bag that is more compact than some of the larger competitors. The backpack is taller than it is wide. That shape lets you put tools in upright, so they do not sit diagonally and press uncomfortably against your back.

CHECK PRICE
Advantages
  • Made of durable ballistic weave
  • Molded, waterproof underside
  • Taller than it is wide
  • A lot of interior space
Disadvantages
  • No bells and whistles like LED lights

Milwaukee Tool Backpack

The Milwaukee is our premium option if you can spend more. Its 48 pockets hold items from electronics to clothing, and two external hardshell panels protect delicate items in transit. Load-bearing harness straps handle heavier loads than our first recommendation.

The Milwaukee backpack lets air through while you wear it. That breathability helps keep your back from getting too hot and makes the bag more comfortable during use.

The bag can also take rough treatment. Its durable 1680d ballistic fabric base protects the contents if you drop it or put it down while it is fully loaded with tools and equipment.

You can carry all your tools in this backpack without needing an oversized bag. It has room for plenty of equipment but stays small enough to fit through doorways as you move around.

Advantages
  • Impact-resistant base
  • Fully padded
  • Load-bearing harness
  • A total of 48 pockets
Disadvantages
  • Slightly higher price than alternatives (but worth it)!

Dewalt Tool Backpack

Dewalt’s electrician backpack provides secure storage and transport for tools, keeping them accessible while you work.

There are 57 pockets in different sizes, both inside and outside the bag. You can look through those options to find a suitable place for the tools you need to carry.

If you cannot see an item in its pocket, the directable LED light helps you find it. Three brightness levels let you adjust the light for a clearer view. The attachment is detachable as well as adjustable, so you can use it without interrupting other work.

Feet on the base can help reduce wear when you put the backpack on the ground. Full padding adds comfort over long days, and the bag keeps tools within reach when your hands are full or you are working at night.

The zippered front pocket is intended for the items you use most often. They stay in front of you, so you do not have to search through the main compartment to find them. The pack also comes with batteries included.

CHECK PRICE
Advantages
  • Excellent value for the money
  • Feet on the base
  • 57 pockets
  • Padded handles and adjustable shoulder straps
  • Lighted tool backpack (LED light)
Disadvantages
  • Zippers get caught

Fluke Tool Backpack

Fluke’s Pack30 costs more and focuses on tool organization. It has six storage compartments, each with 30 tool pockets, to keep tools arranged and easy to retrieve.

Remembering where each tool belongs can be useful when you are working in an unfamiliar place, whether that is a job site or a home repair project. That benefit may matter less a few months later, but the arrangement can help while you are learning where everything is.

Molded EVA sections on the face and top make the bag durable and protect its contents from moisture and spills in transit, provided you do not overfill it. An injection molded base prevents water entering through the bottom. A 12″ pocket also protects tablets & small laptops while traveling.

There are drawbacks to the Fluke bag. We were disappointed that it would not stand on its own when both halves were open. We also thought the price was too high compared with the storage and other functions available from competing bags.

CHECK PRICE

Advantages
  • Easy to remember tool placement
  • Tablet compartment
  • EVA tool shields
Disadvantages
  • Too pricey for its capabilities
  • Won’t stand when open

CLC Tool Backpack

The CLC Tool Backpack is a lower-priced alternative to the Dewalt with similar functions. Its LED light sits in nearly the same position, and it has four fewer pockets for 54 total, including 28 for tools and 14 for accessories. Two straps hold large items. An enlarged base pad protects the bottom from abrasion caused by heavy contents such as nails or screws.

Dual compartments let you access tools without closing one side of the backpack. Padding on the shoulder straps helps keep a full load in place. The pockets are less durable and poorly arranged for different uses, though. The CLC costs less than some other brands, but spending more may be worthwhile if durability or large storage capacity matters to you.

CHECK PRICE
Advantages
  • Equipped with an LED
  • Straps for large tools
  • Reasonable price
Disadvantages
  • Not enough multi-use pockets
  • Durability

Veto Tool Backpack

The Veto Tool Backpack is aimed at buyers who want a bag they can keep using over time. It costs more, so you need to decide whether its longer-term usefulness is worth that extra expense.

The Tech Pac LT combines durable tool storage with a laptop compartment. It typically costs about three times as much as other backpacks. We consider its functions worth the price, including an accessible side panel that keeps tools protected from dust and debris.

The two-sided design gives you additional storage space. That extra room helps when you need to carry a lot of items on site or move them from one place to another.

A padded laptop compartment suits work or school, and the waterproof base keeps the computer dry. The build is strong enough for years of heavy use.

Price holds it back. At about half the price, it would be our first choice, although its functions and protection still make it worth considering.

The number of pockets is another drawback. This bag has only 27 storage pockets, which is considerably fewer than the competing models covered here.

CHECK PRICE
Advantages
  • Compact
  • Waterproof base
  • Room for laptops up to 15
  • Excellent build quality
Disadvantages
  • Not enough pockets
  • Too expensive
